Dance Scottish for St Andrew’s Night at our weekend of dance with Dunedin Dancers, Edinburgh University New Scotland Scottish Country Dancers and CeilidhKids
The fun starts on Friday 29th November with a Nice'n'Easy dance at St Peter's Lutton Place, dancing to the Ewan Galloway & his Scottish dance band. This dance will have something for all ages and abilities.
Saturday 30th November brings a day of workshops with something for everyone all at St Peter's, Lutton Place. First up is CeilidhKids with family fun, then as the day progresses there is a workshop for Primary School age children with Rachel Shankland, a taster session for new dancers and highland dancing with Edinburgh University New Scotland SCDS. The final workshop brings Deb Lees back to Edinburgh to lead more experienced dancers.
Schedule of events:
Friday 29th November 7.30 – 10.30pm
Saturday 30th November
This initiative is part of the RSCDS Global Youth Week and the workshops are being supported by our 90th Anniversary Fund. All of the workshops are free, but we'd love you to make a donation to the fund so that we can continue to support this type of event in the future.
Christmas Classes Party
Tuesday 10th December, 8.00 – 9.45pm
Always a favourite evening, we look forward to seeing lots of dancers having fun and putting into practice everything you have learnt over the term.
Don’t worry if you’ve not made it to a class, we’d love to see you anyway.
Saturday 14th December, 7.30-10.30 pm
Always a fun night, save the date and join us for some festive cheer!
Saturday 9th May, 6.30 for 7pm
This is the highlight of our dancing year and is always an elegant evening in the historic setting of Greyfriars Kirk. Join us as we mark the 75th Anniversary of VE Day with a programme of dances paying tribute to our Armed Forces and the allied nations.
We are delighted to be welcoming Iain MacPhail and his Scottish dance band back to play for us again and are sure they will keep us on our toes the whole evening with some great tunes.
Tickets will be on sale later in October and we recommend that you apply early as this event regularly sells out.
Tickets will be posted early in 2020 and will include cribs for all the dances. There are no recaps at this event, however you are welcome to join us at the pre-Ball Workshop for a fun afternoon practicing some of the dances. It’s also a great opportunity to meet other dancers ahead of the event, in a relaxed and informal setting.
Workshop: Sunday 3th May 2.30 – 4.30pm
Murrayfield Church Hall, Ormidale Terrace, Edinburgh, EH12 6EQ
All welcome; £5 pay at the door
