SHOW LINE UP ANNOUNCED

Siobhan Miller - Soloist

Penicuik born Siobhan first appeared at the Traditional Song and Music Association of Scotland’s Auchtermuchty Festival as a 13 year old where she won both the children’s and women’s singing competitions. In 2007 she was nominated by the RSAMD to receive the silver medal from the Worshipful Company of Musicians. Siobhan has also appeared as a solo singer at several festivals including Glasgow’s Celtic Connections. She has played support to various musicians including Karine Polwart and Bob Fox, and appeared as a guest singer with Jock Tamson’s Bairns at Edinburgh’s Queen’s Hall in 2006 and at Celtic Connections festival in 2008. More recently Siobhan featured on Hogmany Live with the BBC. We are delighted to welcome Siobhan back to Dancing Forth.

Sean Kane - Verse Speaker

Sean was born in Peebles in the Scottish Borders, and grew up watching films starring Steve McQueen, Robert Donat and James Stewart. He earned a place at Edinburgh’s Queen Margaret College, where he trained as an actor. Since graduating he has appeared in numerous productions ranging from Shakespeare to Pantomime and has worked with many Scottish theatre companies. He has also had the pleasure of working alongside directors such as Clive Perry, Kenny Ireland, Ian Grieve, Richard Baron, Michael Winter, John Tiffany and Charlie Nowosielski. Sean has appeared in programmes for the BBC, ITV and Channel 4, as well as in successful films. Sean is a keen writer, particularly of short film scripts and his love for Scotland remains the theme for much of his work.

Peter Clark - Musical Director

Pete was musical director for last year’s production of “Dancing Forth”. His time is divided between performing and teaching. Well-known as a solo artist, Pete may also be found most weekends playing for ceilidh dancing, and has often played for RSCDS classes and balls. Most recently he has been collaborating with accordionist Gregor Lowrey and guitarist Stevie Gillies. He is a founder-member of “Telford’s Crossing”, a seven-piece band with a repertoire rooted in traditional music but tinged with jazz and other influences. Much in demand as a teacher, Pete tutors on the Scottish Music course at the RSAMD (Royal Scottish Academy of Music & Drama) in Glasgow. He also runs a weekly fiddle class and his own biannual “Fiddle Week” courses (May and September) at the Taybank in Dunkeld. As if that’s not enough, Pete is director of the annual Niel Gow Festival in Dunkeld & Birnam (www.niel-gow.co.uk). His recordings include six “solo” albums, details of which can be found on his web pages at www.musicinscotland.com.

Pete will be joined by Peter Shand (piano), Keith Smith (fiddle) and Wendy Weatherby (cello).

Royal Scottish Country Dance Society (Edinburgh Branch) Dancers

The show’s dancers are all members of the RSCDS (Edinburgh Branch) demonstration team. They all dance for the fun, fitness and friendship Scottish country dancing provides. They receive no payment for what they do apart from the knowledge that they are able to pass on this tradition to others and future generations. Throughout the last year they have competed at the three major UK competitive festivals and we now have a gleaming collection of trophies with wins in Newcastle, Glasgow and Aberdeen. This hat-trick, the first in the Branch's recent history, wouldn't have been possible without the continued dedication of the all of the team including the teachers and musicians involved their training.
