Welcome to the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society, Edinburgh Branch. Since our formation in 1924, we have promoted Scottish Country dancing for the fun, fitness and friendship it can provide. Now in our 94th year, we continue to offer classes, workshops, dances and events for all ages and experience levels. Save the date and join us for a great evening of festive favourites set to fantastic music from Iain MacPhail and his Scottish dance band.

The programme is a selection of popular dances with something for everyone, whether you are an experienced dancer or taking your first steps on the dance floor. We hope you will join us for a fun evening of dancing to celebrate the festive season.

Scottish country dancing is a great way to keep fit, have fun and make new friends.

We celebrated 90 years of dancing in Edinburgh in 2014 and a lasting legacy is our Anniversary book and CD featuring 12 new dances devised by Branch members.

All of these dances have now been filmed by our Demonstration Group. We hope you enjoy these along with some of the earlier dances recorded on the CD “Dancing Forth too”.

Always a favourite evening, we look forward to seeing lots of dancers having fun and putting into practice everything you have learnt over the term.

Tickets for our Annual Ball in 2018 are now on sale.

This is always the highlight of our year and is an elegant evening in the historic setting of Greyfriars Kirk.

This year our programme celebrates 95 years of the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society with all of our favourite dances.

We are delighted that Colin Dewar and his Scottish dance band will be playing for us at this event, and we hope you will join us for what is sure to be a memorable evening.

Scottish country dancing is a fun activity which helps children learn the importance of teamwork and cooperation in a safe and fun environment and is an excellent way to keep fit, have fun and make new friends.

The class restarts on Thursday 24th August, Mayfield Salisbury Church Hall, 18 Mayfield Road, EH9 1QT from 3.45pm.

“The Wee Green Book”weegreenbook

The next edition of Scottish Country Dances in Diagrams, every dancers favourite “wee green book” is being reprinted later this month.

The ninth edition will include 589 dances, with some less popular dancing removed and replaced with newer, popular dances.

Copies will be available from our shop as soon as it is available priced at £7 + P&P.

 Demonstration Group

Our Demonstration Group had the privilege of promoting Scotland and Scottish dancing in Barcelona at the Jornades Internacionals Folklòriques. Watch   them dancing the Gay Gordons on La Rambla during the La Mercè Festival 2016.
